What I do: Camping manager

Personal: Born Vienna, Va.; married, one daughter.
I like to: backpack, paddle canoes and kayaks, geocaching with family, being outside in a natural setting. I also like contra dancing (New England line dancing).
What I’ve done: Worked in outdoor education, teen development (ropes courses), environmental education (living history).
Favorite day hike: Cathedral Trail to Knife Edge on Mount Katahdin.
Favorite local park: Going with family to Lake Louisa State Park (south of Clermont).
On my bucket list: Take time off to do a thru-hike.
Top advice: Know your own level of comfort. Hike your own hike.
Scary moment: Sudden lightning storm during my wife’s first backpacking trip.
Last adventure: Taking my daughter on her first backpacking trip.
Next adventure: A section hike on the Appalachian Trail.
