Kayaking

If you’ve never ventured into Florida’s waters in a kayak then you don’t know what you’re missing. Not only is this fun outdoor activity relatively easy for adventurers both young and old, but it’s an excellent form of exercise.

There are a variety of kayaks to choose from, depending on what type of adventure you have planned:

  • Sea Kayaks
  • Touring Kayaks
  • Recreational Kayaks
  • Fishing Kayaks

The Pros of Paddling

The American Council on Exercise found that an individual weighing about 125 pounds will burn approximately 283 calories per hour while paddling a kayak. A heavier person, someone closer to 200 pounds, can burn as many as 454 calories from an hour of kayaking. Many report reduced stress after kayaking.

Beyond health benefits, many people are taking up kayaking because:

  • Kayaks are affordable and family friendly.
  • They require minimal maintenance.
  • Kayaks are easy to store and transport.
  • They are environmentally friendly.
  • Kayaks give anglers access to shallow water and tight spaces.
