Tampa Bay is an amazing fishery. Anglers from around the world visit our area to pursue popular inshore game fish: redfish, snook, seatrout, tarpon and more. Bill Jackson’s has a wide range of tackle for saltwater spin and fly-fishing anglers. So if you’re pitching live bait and lures to snook and redfish along the mangroves or casting flies to tarpon cruising off the beaches, we have the gear and know-how to get you hooked up.
Our staff of experienced anglers fish the area like crazy in their off-hours, so they know what the fish are eating. Our staff can help you with:
- Rod-reel-line setups
- Casting instruction
- Lure or fly selection
- Tying flies
- Spooling line to reels
- Knot tying and use
- Area fishing spots
Bill Jackson’s staff members know fishing, first and foremost. These passionate anglers spend hours and hours on the water when they’re not in the Shack. In fact, many guide on the side, so they know what’s working, and more important, why a lure or bait or fly is working. They love to point Tampa Bay visitors and locals to the popular spots and, maybe, they’ll reveal a real gem or two that not everybody knows about.
Because they fish so much, they can give you experienced reviews on the gear we have in stock and advise you on the best setup for your adventure. You’ll find they are a most valuable resource before your trip.
Private and Group
Fly Casting Instruction
The art of fly casting is best perfected through personal instruction and close adherence to a program of skills practice. We offer private ($78, by appointment) and group ($25, second and fourth Saturdays) casting classes. If you purchase a fly rod from us, the group casting class is free. If you take the group casting class and then decide to buy a fly rod that day, the $25 goes toward that rod purchase. Learn more about our Fly Casting Instruction.
Free Fly Tying Class
Join us for our free Fly Tying class, typically held every first and third Monday from 6-8 pm. Our staff will teach you how to tie the flies that catch Tampa Bay area fish, such as snook, trout and redfish. Tying supplies can range from $6 to about $15, depending on the fly.
