Fly Tying Class 101

Join us for our Saltwater Fly Tying Class from 6-8 pm! We’ll show you how to make all of the flies that work well in the Tampa Bay area. Bring a beverage of your choice and enjoy an informal instructional setting. Our staff is here to help you get started and assist you in developing your own style and hone your skills. Reservations are required. Call 727-576-4169.  Class supply fee ranges from $6 to $15.

February 25th

Fly-Casting Class

Learn the basics of fly-casting with one of Bill Jackson’s instructors, and experience the thrill of enticing and catching fish in a whole new way.

When: 10 am on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. Classes may range up to 1 1/2 hours in length.

Cost: $25 per person, or free when you purchase a rod and reel combo of $100 or more.

Class size is limited to six casters, so reservations are required.

The course is taught by one or more of Bill Jackson’s 5 NRA-certified instructors and, upon completion, you will receive a certificate recognized by the State of Florida to apply for the Concealed Weapons license.

Time: 9:30 am – 5:30 pm

April 22nd

Paddleboarding is one of the fastest growing water sports in the country. Join us on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month at 9:45 am for a free stand-up paddleboard class. Feel free to call us for additional information.

Scuba Diving

March 8th

FREE Try Scuba Class

Note: This class is full. Call the shop for future classes.

The Bill Jackson’s Try Scuba class is a FREE one-hour session designed to introduced interested persons to the sport of scuba diving so they can then determine if they want to pursue the scuba diving certifications. This Try Scuba diving event is:

Wednesday, March 8, 7 p.m.

Bill Jackson’s staff members will demonstrate how to use the different kinds of scuba diving equipment and guide participants through the basics. Participants will then be allowed to get in our indoor pool, put on the scuba gear and get a acquainted with one of the most popular water sports in Florida.

Participants need only to bring a swim suit (or whatever you feel comfortable getting wet in) and a towel.

Space is limited so call ahead (727-576-4169) for a reservation so we can ensure there is enough scuba equipment for everyone.

March 6th and 8th

Nitrox Class

This two-session course is designed for the open-water diver who wants to take his or her diving to the next level through the use of a better breathing gas. Enriched Air Nitrox (EAN) allows the diver to have longer bottom times, shorter surface intervals, a lower risk of the bends and reduces post-dive fatigue.

When: 6-9:30 pm.

Cost is $125, plus $49.95 for books.

Starting March 20th

Basic Open Water Scuba Diver Class Mondays & Wednesdays

This course is designed for those interested in basic open water diver certification. Classes meet each Monday and Wednesday for four consecutive weeks, from 6 pm to 9:30 pm each of those nights at Bill Jackson’s indoor swimming pool. Each course includes a set of open water dives.

Class dates: March 20 and 22, 27 and 29, April 3 and 5, 10 and 12.

Dives: To be determined.

Cost: Course tuition is $350, plus $59.95 for books, plus open water dive fees (varies).

Basic Open Water Scuba Diver Class Tuesdays & Thursdays

This course is designed for those interested in basic open water diver certification. Classes meet each Tuesday and Thursday for four consecutive weeks, from 6 pm to 9:30 pm each of those nights at Bill Jackson’s indoor swimming pool. Each course includes a set of open water dives.

Classes: March 28 and 30, April 4 and 6, 11 and 13, 18 and 20.
