Florida Fly Fishers

The Florida Fly Fishers meet from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on the second Thursday of the month at Bill Jackson’s. Fly anglers of all skill levels are invited to attend meetings, where the club discusses tactics, strategies, past and future outings, gear and, of course, fly tying. Meet at the Coffee Pot Park Boat Ramp at 5:15 am. Launch at 5:30 am.

Scuba Diving

March 24th

Spearfishing Seminar

Seminar leader Kevin Bruington will deliver information and tips for you to get the most out of your underwater hunting adventures, no matter if you are a beginner or an expert diver.

Cost (price includes lunch): $20 for kids 15 and under; $35 for adults; seminar plus video is $55.

When: 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, March 24.

Where: Bill Jackson’s Shop for Adventure

April 7th

Shark Dive

In a collaborative effort, Bill Jackson’s and the Florida Aquarium are offering divers the opportunity to swim among sharks, giant sea turtles, barracuda, moray eels and goliath grouper during the Diving with Sharks Experience on April 7.

This shark dive event also includes parking, a $10 lunch voucher, admission to the aquarium, a T-shirt, a photo of your dive, a behind-the-scenes tour and more.

Cost: $150.

Divers must be 15 years of age or older and are required to bring their certification card, dive mask, swim suit, and a towel. All other equipment is provided by the Florida Aquarium. Cancellation may be made with full refund up to seven days before the date of the trip.

Ocean Reef Full Facemask Demo

Come experience the future of scuba diving at the Ocean Reef Full Facemask Demo on April 21 at the Bill Jackson Shop for Adventure. We’re offering three sessions for this FREE event, but space is limited (four spots in each time slot), so call the Dive Shop at 727-576-4169 to reserve your spot to learn about Ocean Reef’s integrated diving masks that foster diver communication.

Times: 10 am, noon, 2 pm

Snorkel Camp

Beat the summer heat at Bill Jackson’s Snorkel Camp.

During this NAUI-inspired camp, you’ll learn about the equipment and how to care for it, the buddy system, water entry and exit, surface dives, proper fin kicks, how to clear your mask, equalizing and bouyancy skills.

Who: Open to kids ages 6 to 12 who know how to swim. Class size limited to 12.

When: 9:30 am to 3 pm; two sessions available, June 18-22 and July 22-27, 2018.

Where: Indoor pool and classrooms at Bill Jackson’s.

Cost: $225 per session; discounts available (call for info).

What to bring: mask, snorkel, fins, snorkel vest, towel, bathing suit, change of clothes.

Lunch is provided but you are welcome to bring your own.

Blackbeard’s Cruises in Bahamas

Create some memories of a lifetime and dive beautiful Caribbean waters in the Bahamas with us.

We’ll leave Nassau and travel the Upper Exuma Cays, diving on reefs, walls and doing drift dives in pristine waters. There are also opportunities for night dives and shark feeding dives. Leave the tank behind if you want and immerse yourself with mask and snorkel. We’ll also take time to feed wild iguanas.

Cost: $1,599 per diver

Includes:

  • Round-trip airfare out of Orlando International
  • Transfers to and from the airport/marina (Nassau)
  • Up to 20 dives (tanks and weights included; also includes night dives and shark feeding dive)
  • All meals and snacks
  • All beverages, including beer, wine and rum punch
  • Dormitory-style, fully air-conditioned cabins

Trip cost does not include:

  • Transportation to and from Orlando International
  • Gratuities for boat crew (15% recommended)
  • Dive/trip insurance

A deposit of $250 (per person) is required to reserve your spot. Balance is due no later than June 1, 2018. Cancellation may be made before this date. There is no refund after June 1, 2018 unless the trip spot is filled.
